When clients are comfortable with me, my abilities, and the abilities of TheBANK, I feel a trusted advisor relationship has been formed. Sometimes this happens early in the relationship, other times it may take a year or more. There is a point though, for most clients, when the doubt eases. TheBANK is large enough to benefit from economies of scale, but small enough that we are able to get an answer or solution to an issue quickly.
I will be in the same situation as a lot of my clients at some point and will need to decide who I will trust to handle my financial affairs when I no longer want to or I am unable to do so. In other words, I’ll be on the other side of the desk one day. I understand that and I take my responsibilities very seriously. When clients begin to realize that and see that I stay in touch in good times and difficult ones, there is a move toward mutual understanding.
Throughout my career I’ve been able to maintain and enhance client relationships. I’m fortunate to have maintained the majority of relationships I develop. I want my clients to enjoy their lives without worrying about the details and financial planning should help them do that. They should be comfortable with the assets they’ve accumulated and comfortable in using them when it’s time.
